Πότε καταλαβαίνουμε ότι κοιμόμαστε σε «λάθος» στρώμα και πώς αυτό μπορεί να επηρεάσει την υγεία μας

When do we understand that we are sleeping on the "wrong" mattress and how this can affect our health

A good and quality sleeping mattress , with properties that match our own sleeping habits and individual characteristics, is a key factor for a beneficial and restful sleep. Instead, trying to sleep on the "wrong" mattress, according to experts at The Sleep Judge , it is a basic reason that can even cause insomnia, having painful effects on our quality of life! But what does it mean for a mattress to be "wrong" for a person's sleep needs? Orion 's team of sleep experts Strom analyzes! When is a mattress unsuitable for us? Πότε καταλαβαίνουμε ότι κοιμόμαστε σε «λάθος» στρώμα και πώς αυτό μπορεί να επηρεάσει την υγεία μας When we say that a mattress is "wrong", i.e. unsuitable for us, we usually refer to three basic parameters that determine its relationship with the person who uses it. More specifically: 1) When a mattress is not suitable for the anatomy of the body and the feeling that rests us . There are different mattress requirements depending on a person's body type. This means that every body has its own position in order to get comfortable and enjoy the feeling of rest it needs. For this reason, we must take into account:
  • The special anatomy of our body
  • Our burden
  • Possible health problems we may have
  • The expected sensation we desire
  • The kind of internal stability we need (bonnel springs for hard inside - pocket springs for soft inside)
  • What will be the sub-base of the mattress: a) Anatomical frame (feeling of softness on the surface of the mattress) or b) Rigid surface made of wood or novopan (feeling of hardness on the surface of the mattress)?
  • What kind of soft, quality materials do we want on the surface
2) When a mattress is not suitable according to our sleeping habits. Someone who sleeps restlessly by changing their position frequently is different from someone who sleeps in one position all night, so the corresponding behavior is required from the mattress in each case. 3) When a mattress is more than 10 years old, despite the use it has undergone, it is almost certain that it has deteriorated . Let's not forget that we are on the mattress for about 8 hours on average every day. This means that after 10 years of use, we have completed… 30,000 hours on the mattress! No matter how much we take care of it and despite its quality, long-term use is likely to have caused deterioration in its materials and durability, resulting in a not so pleasant sleeping experience on it. 4) The maintenance and cleanliness of the mattress is necessary to be able to offer us quality sleep . By properly aerating it, frequently shaking off the accumulated dust, cleaning it at regular intervals, we ensure that it will continue to provide us with the properties it should, according to its materials and construction. All the above reasons explain why the "wrong" mattress can directly affect our sleep, causing painful consequences in our lives. More important than these are insomnia, which, by extension, disrupts both our physical and mental health. Direct negative consequences of insomnia can be:
  • Feeling tired, heavy body
  • Pains & injuries
  • Anxiety disorders
